Things I wanted to say to myself (and to you) last week
Value yourself, because if you don't, the rest of the world won't do it either.
Sometimes, choosing well-being over ambition is the wisest thing you can do. You may reach your goals in six months, a year or two years from now, but it will be extremely challenging to reverse the consequences if you worsen your health along the way. Change your ways before it’s too late.
You are more than your job title. Don’t let anybody else tell you otherwise.
The world may move at a thousand miles an hour, but it doesn’t mean you also have to. Choosing to pace yourself for your happiness doesn’t make you less ambitious.
Always have something to look forward to in life. It could be something as little as a five-minute skincare routine before bed at night or a much-needed vacation. Look forward to something that keeps the excitement alive in an otherwise mundane life.
You should keep your loved ones close. All the memories made and the experiences shared hold value. To nurture those relationships though, make sure to nurture yourself first. You can do everything within your control to show up for your loved ones, but if it’s all done at the cost of your well-being, it loses all value eventually.
Be your own best friend. It is the best gift you get in life.
Never forget that life is meant to be lived, not something to simply get by. I faced a tough choice last week that had me let go of certain career expectations I had in my mind for a few months now to prioritise my well-being. It was one of the toughest decisions I had made in a long time.
We encounter such difficult choices very frequently in life. Next time you find yourself on the precipice of making tough choices, remember to show yourself some grace.
You deserve moments of peace in your life. Moments where you feel alive and present. Moments where you don’t feel the need to be or show up a certain way.
Remember, your life is meant to be lived, not something to simply get by.
THIS WEEK’s RECOMMENDATIONS
This week, I am sharing some Notes that really resonated with me on Substack last week. I hope you find them useful too!
If you enjoy reading Unwind, I would love it if you consider recommending the publication to your readers. Simply go to your Dashboard > Recommendations > Manage > Add recommendation > Unwind.
This is beautiful, Mansi! Having something to look forward to really changes everything. You get a little spring in your step, your energy feels new and alive, and you feel like god's favorite child. It's kind of like falling in love and getting those butterflies—but for yourself and for the things that make you grow.
Which honestly, sounds like a great deal!
Your posts always feel like warm hugs, thank you for these gentle reminders to take care of our joyful heart even when confronted by the wary mind 🥹🫶🏻
