This is such a lovely post Mansi, and a great reminder that nobody is judging you even half as harshly as you are yourself... Congratulations on being brave and putting yourself out there 👍🥰
This is something I have also battled with. Being seen can make you feel vulnerable in an uncomfortable way.
Through accepting that most people don’t really notice me (at least not for long), really helped me as well. I also figured that as long as they don’t physically harm me, I’ll probably be fine 😅. Great piece, Mansi!
You beautifully expressed what I had felt for soo long Harun!
I studied psychology when I was school and it mentioned a term that I will never forget. It’s called “spotlight effect” - when you think everybody is focusing on you but in reality they are too busy focusing on themselves. It does apply in reality life and when we accept that, this fear of being seen tones down to some extent.
I wish you all the best with your journey. There’s so much to look forward to and grow✨
You have so beautifully expressed the thoughts and fears of so many of us, it’s giving a sense of direction as much as hope. I love this piece so much, thank you!
I am glad you found some value in my words. It’s so difficult to live with this (or any other) fear but all it takes is to be intentional about the little things to eradicate it from our lives.
I’ve never really been comfortable on social media. So when business gurus tell us to market ourselves on there in order to sell, it never sat right with me. I think that’s why I enjoy Substack so much. I can open myself up but also control the visibility.
Perhaps one day I will be more comfortable, but for now, I’m glad I have this space here.
I get what you are saying. I have had an on and off relationship with social media ever since I first started my journey with it. It was never my cup of tea. But being here on Substack really made me realise that I can control my time on social media instead of being controlled by it. I am in no rush. And so happy to cheer everyone as they grow.✨
