Our definition of success makes or breaks the fulfilment we get from life. If it’s unrealistic and depends on the validation of others, then it is a poor one and will lead to an unfulfilling life. But if it is largely dependent on our internal input then it becomes more likely that we will achieve it and be fulfilled, as much as one can be, with our life.

You nailed it Harun!

Seeking external validation is not sustainable when we are seeking fulfillment in life. Sure, for a moment we may feel like we made it but the very next moment we start thinking about the next goal. I have tried it, and that is not a recipe for a fulfilling life.

I love that you are figuring this all out earlier on in your life! Your’e doing the work now to untangle the expectations of the world and others and how it fits with you. Bravo!

As someone who works from home, does not use social media other than Substack and usually interacts with people wiser and more seasoned in terms of life experience (again thanks to Substack!), I always wonder what people my age are thinking about and if they are nurturing the foundation of their life ahead. It's certainly important to think about these things though if we have to live an intentional life.

Thank you so much as always for supporting my work. I can't even count the number of times I think about you and your writing throughout my day. I keep sending positivity from here! 🥹♥️

Super inspirational and beautifully written Mansi - I particularly loved the idea of how we choose other people's definition of success. I feel like I struggle to work out what mine exactly is - what's yours?

Thank you so much for your time. I really appreciate it. I think I struggle with my definition of success too - still trying to figure out as I go. But for me as a woman, financial independence is definitely on the list. I am thankful that I was able to realise this from a young age. Being around my loved ones also has to be one - probably the reason why I still try to live around my parents as much as I can!

It hit me when you said that some live the life others had given to them. Having lived such a life for so long, I realized that this isn’t for me too late. But I didn’t stop there. I’m trying to reconnect my life with the journey that I want to experience. I’m really happy for you Mansi, because you’ve realized this earlier.

This is basically a letter to my younger self. My only marker for success now is happiness and that’s more than enough for me.
