I have been trying to lean on comfort more than ever these days.
Even though every single piece I write comes from my heart, there are a few that I frequently go back to when all I need is a sense of familiarity in my life. A friendly conversation.
As I sit here and worry about an upcoming season of busyness in my life, the only thing I need right now is to appreciate how far I’ve come. So, I ended up reading a newsletter I shared about six months ago, where I talk about 23 big and small lessons I’ve learned in 23 years of my existence.
If you are new here ( or even someone who read this exactly six months ago), I hope these lessons encourage you to think about little things that have served you for good over the years.
Slow down, take a deep breath and enjoy!
In 2023, I turned 23. While I am grateful for all the experiences and opportunities I have encountered in all these years, I can’t help but think about the challenges I had to overcome to be where I am today.
Adulting is not easy. You feel in control of your life for a minute. But the very next second, you feel as lost as you could ever be.
I may not be the best navigator of my life at all times, but here are 23 lessons I learned in 23 years of my life.
You are allowed to follow your own timeline in life.
It’s easier to navigate change when you are surrounded by loved ones.
NEVER take your health for granted.
Sometimes, getting out of your comfort zone leads to some of the best experiences in life.
Adulting is one of the hardest things you’ll do in life. So be kind to yourself and your peers.
Being a good friend is a quality that is always appreciated.
Self-awareness is the greatest gift you can give to yourself.
A wholesome life consists of one thing: BALANCE.
Saving money is amazing. But there is no harm in treating yourself with small gifts every once in a while.
Your job title does not define your worth.
Reading books exposes you to a world you never even knew existed. It allows your mind to wander and dream.
To-Do lists will be your saviour on overwhelming days.
My mentor/bestie once told me: You are rich if you have money. You are wealthy if you have time.
Always try to keep a journal consistently. It is the best reflection of self-growth that you might lose sight of.
Who you are and what you value will change as you grow older and it’s OKAY.
Spending less time in the virtual world and more time in the real world will protect your mental peace.
Learn to value yourself. Because if you don’t, the rest of them won’t either.
Pursuing interests that you don’t intend to transform into a source of income are great happiness boosters.
Everything falls in place at the right time. We can choose how much effort to put in, but can never get ahead of time.
You are way cooler if you can find comfort in your own company.
You have to start somewhere to get somewhere.
The world needs less judgement and more kindness. Be kind, not judgemental.
Gratitude keeps you grounded. Pause and appreciate the little things in life often.
A question for you: What are your biggest learnings in life so far? Feel free to comment below so that we all have something to learn from each other! :)

Thank you for sharing these. You are right when you say that “a decision can always wait”. It’s nice to be able to remove a sense of urgency from some things in life.🤍
