Things I wanted to say to myself (and to you) last week
Reflections on self-worth, beauty of being a beginner and more from June.
Reflections on the seasonal nature of life
I speak the words ‘in this season of life’ often because I truly believe in the idea that life is not a linear curve. Sometimes when things get tough, we convince ourselves that the only way forward is to fall deeper into the hole of uncertainty and insecurity. We forget that life can, infact, feel light again. That we can see days when peace wraps every inch of our bodies. Days when we feel happy from within. We forget that life is seasonal, and no matter how bad you fall, you will learn how to get back up on your feet. So keep going.
Reflections on being a beginner
Till the day I graduated college, I believed that I had to be a master at everything to survive in this cut-throat world. When I stepped into the real world - a place where I was expected to excel in everything I do, I realised that sometimes the feeling of being a beginner is what I truly need in my life. Being a beginner means that your brain gets to break the cycle of autopilot and notice how the task at hand unfolds. It means that you are allowed to be at the start line and choose to walk at your own pace without feeling guilty about it. That there is scope for growth. Sometimes, it means that you simply show up in the spirit of trying, and maybe that’s enough.
Reflections on speaking up for your worth
You are lucky if you don’t come across people or organisations who make you feel undervalued. Where you give your all but it still isn’t enough. So what do you do when you aren’t valued enough despite showing up every day? You speak up for yourself. Do it respectfully, but make sure you do it. As humans, we care about ourselves, our journeys and how we are perceived by others the most. So, it would be naive of you to expect that the other person will know how you feel. Never assume, but always speak up for your worth.
Reflections on embracing alone time
There aren’t many people who find comfort in their own company. But if I have learned anything in the last 25 years of my life, it’s that life feels much more peaceful when you know yourself better. When you stop looking for external validation and turn inward. When you trust your instincts. When you embrace calm. All that is possible if you spend time alone.
Sit under the shade of a tree.
Go for a walk.
Write down your thoughts.
Be free. 💛
THIS WEEK’s RECOMMENDATIONS

Mansi - I really enjoyed this. In particular, the seasonality of life really resonated with me - on a physiological level. For a long time, I felt like my energy used to waver in colder winter months, and my sleep used to suffer in the longer days of summer. Now, I see it as seasonality I should lean into; focus on rest when my body needs it and the seasons request it, and focus on activity when my body feels ready to do it.
It was interesting because leaning into it, rather than trying to "fix" the seasonality transformed how I look after myself - in a good way.
I'd be keen to hear how seasonality manifests in your life?
Loved the part about being a beginner - fresh mindsets help with innovation and new ways of thinking, and also helps us avoid preconceived ideas of how we think things should be rather than how they are!
