Simple Things That Are Transformational
Simple things when done consistently have the power to change your life.
We often underestimate the power of consistency in our life. The idea of magically “figuring everything out at the last moment” is exhilarating. While this mindset may occasionally work in your favour, actual transformation happens due to small but consistent steps that may go unnoticed in your day-to-day life.
Simple things when done consistently can be transformational.
Here are 3 simple things that can be life-changing:
Making your bed: I recently read somewhere that if you want to change your life, start by changing one small thing. Very soon, you will notice how changing one small thing will ripple out into other areas of your life.
When you spend the first 5 waking moments of your day making your bed, you start your day by engaging with the little things in life.
Prioritising your well-being: Showing up for yourself and the people you love in this chaotic world requires strength. That’s why it’s important to intentionally step aside and focus on your well-being every single day. This could include building a small skin-care routine or improving your oral hygiene, or simply increasing your water intake. Prioritising your well-being doesn’t have to be expensive. Sitting in a quiet environment and taking 5 deep breaths can quickly turn things around, especially on a chaotic day.
Movement: This has to be one of the items on everyone’s list of New Year resolutions. Sadly, it is something that most of us take for granted despite knowing its benefits. One of the major realisations I’ve had in my life is that moving your body helps ease your mind. So next time you feel stuck, angry, stressed (or any emotion that induces stress inside your body), put your best pair of trainers on and step outside for a walk. It will change your life forever.
Sometimes, you have to shift focus from the bigger picture towards the little things in life. The immediate impact of these small but consistent efforts may not be noticeable right now. But someday, you will look back and realise that slowly but steadily, you were growing all along.
