Little Things That Aren't So Little!
Little things in your journey to survive a competitive world that make life worth living.
When was the last time you woke up in the morning without feeling the pressure to get ready for work? When was the last time you actually sat down to have a proper breakfast with no distractions from your phone or television?
Living in a fast-paced world is not easy. The default setting in our brain is to be fixated on the idea and possibilities of achieving big life goals. While life on the other side of these goals does look exciting, we often forget to embrace the little things in the now, which (as you may have guessed by the title of this newsletter) aren’t so little.
LITTLE THINGS THAT AREN’T SO LITTLE
Being able to sleep in your own bed at night.
Hearing “I’m proud of you” from a loved one.
A conversation that leaves you feeling more energetic than before.
Casually strolling around the neighbourhood you grew up in and being around friends you grew up with.
Someone saying “You made a difference in my life.”
“I got you.”
The sound of waves. (Best ASMR that nature has to offer)
‘Phone free’ time 30 mins before going to bed.
Eating your favourite home-cooked meal.
Sharing an experience with a stranger. (For me, it was recognising familiar faces in the same metro ride to college everyday. There’s something oddly comforting about knowing that you’re not alone, especially in the mundane moments in life.)
Holding the door for the person entering a store behind you.
Having a “day off to focus on rest.”
This week, I encourage you to look around and focus on little things that you tend to neglect amidst the neverending busyness of life. What would you include in your list of ‘Little Things That Aren’t So Little’?
Little nuggets of wisdom but life changing advice. Great post as always
You are so right - little things that make a big difference to our peace and happiness are no little things. Thanks for sharing your list.
Just hearing the laughter of a loved one makes my day!
