August Reflections
A month where I decided to show up in a room full of insecurities about the future.
In the last few weeks of August, I saw at least one post grieving the nearing end of summer or a picture about the first signs of Autumn on social media. It made me realise how a shift in season can control our moods. The various seasons of life are no different.
For me, August was the beginning of a whole new season. A season where I was knee-deep in the uncertainties of life. A season where I had to show up consistently and remind myself every day that “One day, it’ll all make sense.”
(I do believe that it will. We just don’t need to know the answers to ‘how’ and ‘why’ right this second!)
My Reflections From August:
Do not attach your worth to a single aspect of your life. Instead, look at your life like a canvas that needs to be painted with different colours to create a gorgeous painting.
If you think you can prioritise your career now at the cost of your well-being and be happy at some point in a blurred future, think again.
In this day and age, we expect us to operate like machines throughout the day. Waking up every day and choosing to step out of bed to face the world is a challenge in itself. Express gratitude for being able to get up and move. Some people could only wish that they were in your shoes right now.
If there’s too much on your plate right now, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you don’t have to figure everything out right this second.
The world will not fall apart if you decide to slow down at a pit stop before continuing your walk ahead.
Find one thing that comforts you and do it consistently. I recently read an article about embracing anticipation. It made me realise that looking forward to little things in the near future has helped me get through some of the most challenging times in my life to date.
Sometimes, you have to go through the unknown to comprehend if you wish to continue walking on the same path(with better clarity) or change course.
Being afraid of making mistakes on the way will get you nowhere. Deep dive into the experience and write down everything you learned to avoid getting stuck in a loop.
A Book I Read Last Month
Small Moments Of Joy Amidst The Chaos
Stepping outside the house for a walk.
Waking up 5 minutes before my usual time to breathe in silence.
The aroma of a lighted-scented candle on my bedside table, a thoughtful gift from a kind friend on my birthday.
An impulse purchase of an eye mask with cooling gel that surprisingly turned out to be more calming than I had anticipated.
